Beyonce and Shakira together. I would not kick either one of them out of bed. If I had an opportunity to be with one it would be Shakira. No particular reason she is just hotter to me. Check out the video at this link.

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1bwkq_shakira-beyonce-beautiful-liar

I got this link from my Uncle. He is a recovering alcoholic. Probably the best 12 min I have spent this week. It also goes well with a previous post. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bbaRyDLMvA

Martin Scorsese finally gets his.

It is about time. Martin Scorsese wins an Oscar. Unfortunately Peter O'Toole did not win one. After being nominated eight times. It will be unlikely for him to get another shot at it. I was pulling for Forrest Whitaker though. So I am mixed on that award.
This year seemed to be a little better about having winners from movies that most people have seen or at least heard of. Many times winners and nominations come from movies that only had a limited release or art house movies. Many towns do not have an art house theater. Overall I am pretty happy with the results.
Now, does the show have to be nearly four hours long? By my count they gave out 24 awards. At four hours that is only one award for every 10 minuets of show. Can't we move this along a little bit.

Rant

So maybe I am getting old. Maybe I just hold people to higher standards. I do not know for sure. I have no problem with people going out had having a good time. Partaking in adult beverages can be fun. However, when you are doing to the point of puking several times a week. Get in fights with people you consider your friends. You also have 2 kids under 12 years old that you pawn off on their friends or fathers (different fathers no less). Don't forget the car accident where you took out a fence and a DUI on a separate occasion. It may be time to reconsider your priorities.
Sure I partake in the beverage. I have even had more than my fair share and hurled. I did not however set out to do so. I also did not start fights with any of the people I was with or any strangers either.
You are loosing friends and respect from everyone you know. We all know you have had some bad times lately. We also know that they do not go away when you sober up. In fact at the rate you are going you are ending up with more problems every time you sober up. Having to apologize to people after a night out is not a good thing. That usually means that you are the only one that had fun. The people around you were all having to deal with your drunken fighting ass. You are no longer a college coed. It is no longer cute or funny. Grow up and get some help before you loose the rest of your friends.

Get a Room

I live in a cul-de-sac. It has a long narrow entry that has a insurance office and a chiropractic office at the opening. Then there is the back of a convenience store before it opens into a circle that holds our six quadplexs. All last summer the building that holds the chiropratic office was vacant. It was usually dark and lots of kids would buy stuff at the conveince store then go back there sit eat, smoke, bs, or what ever. The chiroprator remodeled the building and put in some new landscaping and lighting. The number of kids hanging out there has decreased. That could just be because it is cold but now we tend to notice more if there are vehicles there at night.
A week ago Sunday, my wife and walked to her friend's house. They live just across the street from the opening of the cul-de-sac. We were there for about a half an hour then started to walk home. We walked into the opening of the cul-de-sac I noticed a red full size truck parked in front of the chiropratic office. I said, "That was no there when we walked by the first time".
After a couple more steps I notice that the truck is moving. Then I see the shadow of a guy in a ball cap obviously thrusting. I tell my wife that they are doing it. She starts to giggle. She says that we should go knock on the window. I am like any one that will have sex with their trucker hat on probably carries a gun. Besides I don't want to see something I would rather not see.
Now I am not against people having a little fun but come on. Find someplace a little more discrete. With in two blocks of here there are plenty of other darker cul-de-sacs, empty parking lots, schools, parks, or alley ways that one could park. That is just to name places I may have used in my high school days. This was probably the most well lit area in a six block radius. Then again, maybe I was just jealous that someone was getting some and I wasn't.

Been a while.

So I have not posted for a while. After getting the truck going I started not feeling well. I slowly started feeling crappy over about a week. Then all of a sudden one morning I woke up feeling quite bad and coughing up green junk. That was on Thursday. By Monday I knew it was something I was not going to get over on my own and went to the clinic at work.
Good thing I went on a day off. I did not have to wait long in the waiting room but I sat in the exam room for 40 minuets. I know that they only charge 10 dollars for a visit. Come on, my time is worth 10$ for 40 min. That is almost exactly in line with what I get paid. I was so tempted to say hell no I am not going to pay after sitting there for 40 minuets.
I got a prescription for an antibiotic. The PA (notice I did not say Dr.) suggested that I wait a couple days fill it. To see if I get over on my own. Now I get sinus infections at least twice a year. I know when I am going to get over something on my own and when I will not. For some reason I thought OK I will wait a couple days. So Wednesday I finally get the script filled. I cannot for the life of me think of why I waited. Maybe it was just that I felt so crappy that I did not want to rome around the grocery store while they put 60 capsules in a bottle.
All this is to say I am feeling better now. I have a couple of other things to write about. I will try to get to these today or tomorrow. (I could just do it now. Not like I am doing anything else.) First I must take an antibiotic.

Truck take two

Fixed. Apparently I did not get the new thermostat in correctly. It looked OK but must not have seated correctly. Thanks for the help Big Red. He helped me fix it last Thursday.
The next day I popped th hood to take the cardboard out of in front of the radiator. I noticed that the cap for my radiator overflow bottle was missing. Of course I had to ask Red if it was in his drive way. He did not find it. So I looked online for a new one. NAPA showed that they had one. I went there after work and they could not find it. So I went to a different part store to try to find something that would work till I could find the real thing. I found a cap for a chrysler master cylinder. It works well.

Happy Birthday to me

So for my birthday I got to work on my truck. On my way to work Saturday morning it started to overheat. I barely got to work. I turned the key to turn it off and a hose burst. So Sunday, I spent the day working on the truck in the parking lot. Saturday it was cold but sunny, Sunday however it was cold and snowing off and on.
I did get the new hose on. I also put a new thermostat in. Now I have an opposite problem. It seems to be over cooling. I know I put in correctly. Maybe it just has a different set point than the old one. I don't know for sure. I do not know why it over heated in the first place. If it can make it through the work week I can take it to a mechanic next week. Although I am tempted to put a different thermostat in as they are only about 8$.

G4TV

Well it has happened. My cable company has dropped G4TV. One of my favorite channels. I guess that is one more pro for getting dish. My only question is why no warning? They could have let us know it was going to go away in the middle of the day on a Tuesday.
I guess I can watch most of the things I like on the web.
Sure I understand that there is only so much room for channels on the cable system. But do we really need 5 home shopping channels. Who watches home shopping on a regular basis?
Since they took away this channel are they going to put something else on in its place? I hope so.

Random Thought: Dead Presidents

Remember in the movie Point Break. Patrick Swayze's group of surfing bank robbers wore masks of the ex presidents. At the time of the movie all were alive. Reagan, Nixon, Ford, and Carter. With the passing of Gerald Ford the only one still living is Carter.
At one time, there was a greater number of living ex presidents than any other time in history.

BSU Fiesta Bowl

WOW, What a football game. I seriously had my doubts about BSU being able to hang against OU. Then BSU jumped out to an early lead. When we took the lead into halftime I thought that we may have a chance. Third quarter was not a surprise. I expected OU to come back and tighten things up a bit.
The fourth quarter started and I began to think if we can just score one more time we may actually beat OU. Once Oklahoma tied the game I was really nervous. Boise had to try to put together a long drive. Then Zabranski made crappy throw that was intercepted. OU took the lead. One would think there was no way that Oklahoma would let us go down the field in under a minute. BSU had not done that all game.
I could just hear hear it now, all the commentators saying that Boise just could not hang with the big boys. The BCS system would be firmly in place. Smaller schools should not play against the BCS teams.
Then we did it. We tied the game and sent it into over time. OU got the ball first and ran it in for a touch down on the first play. BSU didn't not miss a beat and came out and started moving the ball. Going for it on fourth down we made a touchdown. We went for a two point conversion and actaully made it.
BSU did it. They hung with the big boys and actually out played them most of the game. As with any football game there are always thing that could have been better. However for the underdog team that no one gave respect BSU played a perfect game.
Missed the game? Highlights here http://msn.foxsports.com/cfb/story/6325872?FSO1&ATT=HMA

Crikey

Sorry it has been a while. I have not had much to talk about. It has been a busy summer. Today however I do have something to rant about. Steve "Crocodile Hunter" Irwin was killed by a stingray while filming off The Great Barrier Reef. It is sad that a great TV personality was cut down so early in life. He as also did great things for wildlife conservation in Australia.
The one thing that I cannot get over though is the thought that he may have brought this upon himself. Personally, I believe that he had become careless around wild animals. If you need evidence just look at the time he was holding his one year old son while doing a show and feeding wild crocodiles at the Austrailan Zoo just a few months back. That croc could have ate his son in one bite. It would have been game over in zip point shit. I know that he says he was in complete control the whole time but as we have witnessed in his own death these are wild animals we are dealing with. Hell just ask Sigfreid an Roy. Animals act on instinct especially when scared or unusual surroundings.
Really I don't mean to sound callus. I feel for his family and friends who will miss him dearly. It just goes to show that one can never become so good that they can relax.

No AC day 6

It always happens like this. AC will go out on the hottest days of the year. Actually, this is the second time this year my AC has gone out. In early may it was also during the hottest days so far. It is supposed to get fixed today. We will get a whole new unit. Maybe it will work better especially upstairs.
One of the things that makes Boise nice in the summertime also makes it suck when you do not have AC. The sun does not go down till nearly 10pm. That means that it also does not start to cool much till that time. I have to wait till nearly midnight for it to cool off enough to sleep.

So it seems that I am creating a TV blog.

Most of my posts have been about TV. So I think I will go with that for now. I know Steph you would probably be more interested in some other kind of TV. Wow it looks like NBC will only have ER and My name is Earl going for it next fall. I cannot believe that they are going to put most of their eggs in a basket with totally new and unproven shows.
Is any one else tired of Deal or No Deal yet? Come on, no one is going to take a piddly 20 or 30 thousand dollars if they still have even a small chance at a millon. Come on banker make a real deal. If there are several large amounts still in play. Offer 150000$ and if they dont take it they have to open 2 extra cases before the next call. Mix it up a little! It is boring already. It would also be nice if we could get more than one to one and a half contestants per show.

Yes

I just caught an episode of Love Monkey on VH1. Great show. I have yet to buy any TV series on DVD but I am tempted to buy Love Monkey if/when it comes out. If you concider yourself a music junky at all you owe it to yourself to watch some Love Monkey. The movie High Fidelity with John Cusack is another must watch for music geeks.

TV Rant

That is TV as in television you sick freaks. I see that CBS got my message to show the remaining episodes of Love Monkey on VH1. Unfortunately I have missed them there. At this point I will probably just wait till they come out on DVD and watch them there. Really though, is 3 episodes enough to decide if a show is good or not. NBC did the same thing to Four Kings. They showed 2 or 3 shows then it was off for 2 weeks during the Olympics. Then they showed only one more. My wife and I were just getting into the show. I am sure that there are unaired episodes. Why not show them and see if it finds an audience. Cheers had horrible ratings the first time out but it became a top show. So did Seinfeld. I think comedys take a little while to catch on. Of course if they keep moving or preempting the show it will never get a toe hold.
Speaking of Four Kings. In the first two episodes Seth Green had a couple of really cool T-shirts. The first one is called the Fender Scribble T. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Lifestyle/Apparel?sku=410653&src=3WFRWXX I cannot find the second one. It had silhouettes, of disassembled guitar parts. It was really cool. If anyone can find it on-line let me know.

Driving

Why is it that when ever you get any kind of work done on your vehicle you feel the need floor it? It is not like I have a hot rod. Far from it infact. Today I got some much overdue maienience done on my truck. Ok, it was a little more than basic maienience. I had the clutch replaced. I guess I can justify my lead foot by saying I had to see if going into fourth gear still made the engine race. It is all better now. I wish I had been keeping better track of milage to see if is any better. Now I just need do clean my air filter and change the cap and rotor. It will be like a whole new truck.

Could I be thinking about watching a Lifetime movie?

I was flipping through the channels this morning and caught a glimpse of Charisma Carpenter on the screen. My thumb automatically went back to that channel. Low and behold it was for a Lifetime movie on tonight starring Charisma Carpenter. So the question is, do I watch this movie with the incredibly hot Charisma or just watch an old episode of Angel? Then I realize that 24 is on tonight as well. Good thing I have several VCRs and a DVR.

"Money" Rant

I am a music buff. Most of what I listen to would be considered classic rock. I started listening to this type of music in elementary school. Therefore I know most songs by heart. A while back I was listening to the song "Money" by Pink Floyd on the radio while driving home from work. When it gets to the line, "goody goody bullshit" the word shit was replaced with what sounds like a rap scratch. This totally took me out of the groove. I was thinking what the hell was that. So when I got home I called the station. They said it was because of FCC rules.
This song has been played on the radio intact for thirty years. Now, because Janet Jackson flashed her boob on TV two years ago (no nipple mind you) this song is edited. I have listened to this music from age 10 or less. Hearing the word "bullshit" has not infected my soul, curved my spine or kept the country from winning the war (Props to George Carlin).
First, it is not like we do not know what the song says. The song is over thirty years old EVERYBODY has heard it. If a kid is old enough to choose their own music they have heard the word before. Most likely from their own parent's mouth. Second, to put some kind of a scratch over the word brings more attention to it. Use some editing software to blank the vocal for the word. Most people will hear the real word in their head and not even notice. Keep the music and groove going.
This is the same sort of thing that happened when I caught "Austin Powers: The Spy who Shagged Me" on cable a while back. In the scene where Austin is rolling around on the bed saying "Do I make you horny?" was changed to "Do I make you randy?" That phrase is part of popular culture. Everyone knows what it is supposed to say. It is on T-shirts for crying out loud. You are not saving anyone from anything.
